Who we are
Our Beliefs
Holy Cross is a member of the Lutheran Church- Missouri Synod. We walk together with 6000 other congregations who share the same practices and Bible-based beliefs about the one true God.
Lutherans often summarize our teaching with three phrases:
Lutherans often summarize our teaching with three phrases:
Grace Alone
God loves the people of the world, even though they are sinful, rebel against Him and do not deserve His love. He sent Jesus, His Son, to love the unlovable and save the ungodly. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
Faith Alone
By His suffering and death as the substitute for all people of all time, Jesus purchased and won forgiveness and eternal life for us. Those who hear this Good News and believe in God have the eternal life that it offers. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, God creates faith in Christ and gives people forgiveness through Him.
Scripture Alone
The Bible is God’s inerrant and infallible Word, in which He reveals His Law and His Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is the sole rule and norm for Christian doctrine.
We also believe its difficult to know a church from the "beliefs" page on their website! If you would like to know more, please contact us or come visit. A more detailed/nuanced discussion of our beliefs is best had in a personal conversation with our Pastor, or one of our elders.
What to expect when you visit
It is our sincere desire that coming to visit on a Sunday morning, you will experience three things:
God's word spoken and taught
Romans 10:17 says “Faith comes by hearing and hearing through the word of Christ.” You’ll hear our pastor teach and explain the Bible with clarity, especially Good News of Jesus, our Savior from sin and death. We are students of the Scriptures with a desire to connect the truth of the Bible to daily living.
Life Together
Relationships are important to us. Young people are important to us. “Seasoned” people are important to us. Singles interact with families. At Holy Cross you will be noticed and you will be welcomed.
Vibrant Worship & Music
Whether you come to the Traditional service at 9am or the Contemporary service at 11:15am you’ll hear and receive God’s free gifts of forgiveness, life, and salvation in Word and Sacrament. We’re blessed at Holy Cross to have gifted musicians of all backgrounds.
